David was raised on a remote farm six miles south of Onaga, Kansas.  Clara was born into a military family in Fort Knox, Kentucky.  David was a widower with a son, Jason David. Clara was alone after her first husband left her and their child, Jerry Don. Together, David and Clara created a family of their own. This family was complete with the birth of their third son, Joshua Ethan.

We all grow up with grandparents, aunts and uncles all around us, but do not always think to ask questions about their lives before “us”.  In many cases, by the time we think to ask the questions the people with answers are gone.  David and Clara decided to write their stories in hopes of answering the questions.
